Hwy 441 midway between Savannah and Athens, Georgia.
I've driven this stretch of road countless times through the years traveling home to visit my family in Athens. In the last two years, there were periods of time when I was driving this highway at least once a week due to family illness. Although I hardly had the time or energy to even think about using my camera in the midst of all this, I always kept it with me...kind of like a security blanket. I was driving back to Savannah when I took this...I remember just feeling totally spent in every respect and then I came over the horizon and saw this sunset...it was so beautiful and calming and sad.
My mother passed away in August of 2006 and ten months later, on June 26, 2007, my sister also passed away...exactly a year from today.
